I know Relay for Life is a big one around here (I live in PA, but they are nation-wide). It is an overnight camp-out/walking event with a luminary service and a bunch of other things. You form teams to participate in it and it is not a requirement to stay over night. It takes place at my local high school so check at schools around your area.
