Is having a sharp pain in my lower stomach when I cough serious?!

Question: I was driving home a couple nights ago and a sharp pain struck in my lower stomach. It lasted a couple minutes and finally went away. Or so I thought. Now when I cough it really really hurts. It's a pretty sharp pain in the middle of my lower stomach.

*The pain a couple nights ago was not gas. I would be able to recognize it if it were.
*I did work out for the first time in a couple weeks the day before the pain hit in my car, but it doesn't seem to be that kind of pain. Plus, it's odd that it's only when I cough or take a deep breath.

You have stressed your stomach diaphragm muscle
Coughing it will go away

If it don't with in 1 week of first having notice the discomfort you might consider getting professional help.

It could be from working out your ab's. Have you been doing anything that might have made your abdomen soar?
