Answers: as in, how long do you feel it?

There are two phases to the metabolization of trazodone. The half-life of the first phase is 3-6 hours, and the half-life of the second phase is 5-9 hours.

The half-life measure means that after that period of time, 50% of the drug has been metabolized, and 50% remains, and after double that time, only 25% remains, after triple that time, only 12.5% remains.

As you can see, this means it can stay in your system for quite a while, and you can find many online reports of people who having taken it for sleeping the night before, are still groggy for a period the next day.

You shouldn't expect to see effects much longer than that though, and long before it is all completely metabolized, there will so little that you won't feel any effect.

Of course, it always depends on the dose. I was taking it for insomnia. It's most often prescribed for depression I believe. It didn't really help me sleep. The only thing I noticed was that it upset my stomach a little. For me, they seemed to last about 8-10 hr. I discontinued use after reading all of the side effects! I'd rather not be able to sleep. Try and find an alternative if you can (WEB MD)

3-6 hours, The various manufacturers claim that the antidepressant activity becomes active in the first week of therapy.
