Healthy people don't just drop dead...right?!

Question: My grandpa passed away 4 days ago (he had been very sick). My cousin (who is 9 years old) is now terrified about people dying. I'm babysitting her right now and about an hour ago she was in tears because she was afraid her mom was going to die. I've calmed her down and got her watching a movie. I asked her if it would make her feel better if I asked online and she said yeah. So, I'm asking...healthy people don't just drop dead, right? Is there any sites or anything that you think might make her feel better and not so scared?

Okay, let me try.
Whenever people are Mommies and Daddies and they have little kids and jobs that they need to take care of, they don't just die. Sometimes, when people just get really old and unhealthy, dying makes them feel better. After people die, especially if they're really sick and in pain, they don't hurt anymore. I hope this makes you feel better. My mom is a doctor, so I know all about this stuff.
I hope your whole family gets to feeling better.
Make sure you tell everyone why healthy people don't die, okay?

Hope that helps!

Tell her no, healthy people don't just drop dead. Maybe she could call her mom and talk to her a minute or two to help reassure her she's fine.

Just be there for her. My nephew also went through this when my grandmother died. We just continued to reassure him everyone was fine and we would all call him often to help him not worry as much.

Wow that anan E moose or whatever was really mean.
No, heathy people don't drop dead. Only if you are sick will you just die and there will be signs. If your cousin's mother is find and not sick she won't die.

She's frightened about losing another person that she loves, it's a very real fear. No, people don't usually just "drop dead". Please reassure her of that. Her mother is not going to leave her.

If you are perfectly healthy there is no reason you would ever DROP DEAD.

The people that DROP DEAD usually have serious medical conditions we call "silent killers." The kind that you can't feel or see with the naked eye - like high blood pressure, blod clots, or heart attacks. Those people may think they are PERFECTLY HEALTHY because they just don't feel sick. But, really, they are... Those kinds of problems can be detected if you go to your doctor for "check-ups" regularly.

Tell her not to worry.

apparently heathly people don't drop - the ones that do are sick but don't look sick.....

Usually, no. But in a few VERY RARE cases, it is possible. This is nothing for your cousin to be scared of. Just keep comforting her, and tell her to make the most of what is going on in her life right now!! Sincerly, Bri, Emily, and Quinn, a.k.a. DIVER GIRL

well.... things can happen. like, if you sit for too long, like on a transcontinental flight, you can develop blood clots in your legs that can travel to your lungs (pulmonary embolism or something) and block the flow of blood to your lungs and kill you instantly. that's why if you're layed-up in the hospital after surgery, they now put those inflatable massager things on your legs, to keep the blood flowing. i mean, generally no, healthy people don't just drop dead.

No. "Healthy" people do not just drop over dead. But when someone who seems healthy does (on rare occasion) the coroners report finds out that they weren't really healthy at all. The instances that I have heard of people "dropping over dead" are people who get a mysterious blood clot in some part of an organ (like the brain or lungs) or they get an aneurysm on a major artery (like John Ritter, remember that). But seriously, children don't just drop over dead.

Yes they do! All the time!

AHHHH!!!
