Does it take a Psychiatrist to prescribe Strattera (for ADHD) or can my Family P!
Question: I suffer from Adhd and i used to go to a therapist that prescribed the medication to me. Recently i have become above age and i do not have insurance. So my therapist's clinic is being a pain in the butt to see me again. I was wondering aside from that, Does it take a specialist to prescribe the medication sense its not a narcotic and can my Family Doctor prescribe it? thank you.

Straterra can come from any Dr as long as you have seen him/her before. You could get samples for it though if they have any- it doesn't hurt to ask!
Ritalin or Adderall on the other hand, are controlled substances and can NOT be given as samples, but can be written out by any Dr. You have to see them regularly though to get checked.
You wont get a persription for Straterra from a regular doctor, they will always send you to a psychiatrist for analyzation. i had to go through the same process to get my straterra perscribed.
