Ever heard of a medication called "Depakote"?!

Question: First and foremost, you need to discuss the loss of appetite with your doctor. Depakote can cause liver problems and loss of appetite is one of the major side effects that your doctor needs to know about so he/she can make sure you do not suffer liver damage from taking the drug.

My daughter was on Depakote for several months and her dosage was 3500 mgs per day. The highest daily dose they can safely prescribe is 4000 mgs per day. She had to have her blood tested regularly because of how much she had to take.

Read the information at http://www.drugs.com/depakote.html and do a search on the net for more information about this drug. There are other things that are less harmful that your doctor could be giving you for bipolar disorder. Ask if he/shemightchange you to a different med with less harmful side effects and tell her/him about the loss of appetite and if you have any of the other symptoms listed on http://www.drugs.com/depakote.html

STOP.
Starting you off immediately at 1000mg is not safe.

I think the normal dosage starts at 250 mg, and then gradually increases. Taking that strong of a dose at once, isn't safe. And being that you're 'small', the effects would hit you quickly. I would call the doctor that prescribed this. Until then, do NOT take it.
