My son was 13 years old when he first heard about organ donation. He said that is something he would definitely do if he were to die unexpectedly....Sadly, his request was granted only a year later after being struck by a car, severing his brainstem.

Yes, I am a donor. I do like the idea of being an automatic donor unless stated otherwise. Here in America it doesn't matter what you put on your license it is your family that must approve of the donation. Asking someone who just discovered they lost a loved one isn't the best time to be thinking about organ donation.

I believe that it should be opt-out instead of opt in because I know a lot of people who say they will donate their organs but never get around to getting a card or registering. Laziness and just not thinking about it because it doesn't effect them.
Usually the people who really don't want to donate feel very strongly about it and I think they are more likely to make an effort to opt out.
