I'm getting my tonsils out on the fourth?!

Question: what should i expect

Answers: what should i expect

Tonsillectomy is a very safe & common operation.
Sore throat, hoarse voice. You will be given something for pain and will get lots of ice cream, cold drinks to reduce swelling & pain. It's important to drink to stay hydrated.
You will have general anesthesia. You will go home same day as surgery.

It will probably take about 2 weeks to recover totally.
You should call your MD if you get fever or if you are bleeding. If you are swallowing a lot it may mean you are bleeding
Write down any questions you have & call or bring them with you to MD so you will be less nervous before your surgery.

A sore throat for a week or so! You don't say how old your are, but I assume you are at least 15. The older you are, the more soreness you will feel! Stated another way, it is better on a person if they are quit young to get them out!
