When people go to get there stomach stapled, do they use real staplers.?!
Question: They don't use staples at all any more. They used to use special stainless steel fasteners, not really staples at all. But now they use a plastic band that goes around the stomach. It's less damaging, it heals faster, and it's easier to undo in the rare cases where it has to be undone.
'Stomach stapling' is really an obsolete term. It is now called Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG).

Well, they're not like the kind of staples that you would get at Office Max, but yes, they are surgical staples.
