How can iget rid of a cold sore fast without meds?!
Question: I have gotten cold sores since I was 2yrs old. I've tried everything under the sun to try to get rid of them fast. If you're not willing to take any medication what so ever it will take longer for it to go away. Basically its just a waiting game. There are some natural ways to relieve the discomfort. Holding an ice cube on it reduces swelling and some of the pain early on. When it turns into a scab it always helps to keep it very moist otherwise it can crack and bleed all over the place. I personally have spent many years trying to figure out ways of preventing them. What works for me is cutting out soda and lowering my sugar intake. I also take a dose of acidophilus every day which is a good bacteria. I however have found the most relief from a combination of Abreva, an anti-viral cream and pills.

Lysine helps. Presumably, you are only excluding presciption medication and not natural remedies?
My parents tell me to Gargle with Listerine... It helps
