yes, i had them as a child, more than once. i think lots of people do - their eggs are everywhere so its easy to get infected (specially for kids who tend to put their hands in their mouths more often than adults). yes, they are uncomfortable, but believe me - its hell if you are a girl!
P.S. constantworker, the kind we're talking about (threadworms) don't make you lose weight. that's a tapeworm. whole different kettle of fish!
yes, have a 3 year old. but being clean and getting pills gets rid of it. 'orrible kids!

Yes I had them as a baby, my mom only fed me coca cola so I wouldn't poop and it made me sick!
Me personally no, but like Mystical Mamba, the children seemed to get them on a regular basis. But I still had to take the same medicine. Same as hair nits, little pressies from school.
My son had them last yr, i was mortified and was blaming our kitten, doc said it was unlikely to be cat as she had been wormed and he was more likely to get them from other kids, apparently its really common, something like 40% kids in the uk will have had them at some point!!
