What's the daily amount I can take for Vitamin C?!

Question: I am sick and have had 420 mg within 24 hours. I know some pills are 1000mg. I heard that it is bad to take too much. What's the right amount?

From what a doctor told me, double your vitamin C when you're sick. Once you're feeling better, go back down to what you normally take. (Normal should be less then 1,000mg). If you take more then that, too much Vitamin C can cause Kidney Stones. Be Careful!!

500mg a day, I find they can give you stomach ache, so I take mine with food

You can quite safely take 1 or 2 gm of vitamin C per day.

The Vitamin C foundation actually recommends 3 gm (3,000 mg) per day but most health experts recommend a lot less.
