I just went though this with my Grandson, same age and weight. I gave him one Ibuprofen.

how bout get off this and go to doctors!

DO NOT give a child adult tylenol! If it's just a regular sore throat, he should be fine with the honey for the night. If you think it's emergent, go to the doctor's right away. Just don't gibe him tylenol though. Good luck!

:o)

No more than 200 mg

I'd call the pharmacist about that. They should be able to give you help. I don't want to say the wrong thing.

I don't know about the tylenol, but try putting vicks vapor rub on the bottoms of his feet and then cover them with socks. I know it sounds weird but for some reason it helps with anything respiratory. Also it probably won't immediately help, but put five drops of hydrogen peroxide in each ear with a piece of cotton so it won't come right back out, helps kill infection.

Go check out WEBMD!

No, I would not give him anything that is for adults. Call u're Ped for home remedies

Have him gargle with salt water--yes it's nasty tasting, but it works. Honey only works if you give him hot tea and real lemon to sooth.

If you have the tablet form of the tylenol, you could cut it in half and it should be ok, but use only if he has a fever or his throat is swollen---I'm no DR or anything, but kids metabolisms his age should be able to handle that.

If he has a very sore throat and a high fever, you should take him to the doctor because it could be strep throat. If not high fever, give him cough syrup, hot tea and go out and get some childrens aspirin, maybe from a neighbor. Sometimes the pharmacy will deliver these to you if you call them.

If there aren't any meds in the house, can't you go buy some? Stores may be closed but gas stations always have simple meds. I'm pretty sure that there would be children's motrin. Give him some hot cocoa or tea if he likes it. The warm salt water helps kill bacteria as well. Maybe give him a warm bath. Try to relax him. With younger kids, you can get them relaxed by just telling them that a bath and nice clean PJs will make him feel a little better. If he thinks it will, it might help take his mind off the pain.

Does he have a high fever? If its just a sore throat i wouldn't give him adult meds.Have him gargle in warm salt water. If he has a high fever i might give him one 350mg tylenol but i would be scared to give an eight year old a 500mg tylenol capsule.I would be safe and call his Dr at home and ask him,
