Calcium pills have brown dots on them?!


Question: I got some calcium pills from my chiropractor for my osgood stuff and I havent taken them in about a year or two but they have some brown spots on them and I was wondering what the spots were and if I should get some more of the pills.

yes, get new pills ... the brown is probably oxidation ... but i wouldn't take chances with contamination after a year ... a year is the usual time to consider a bottle of vitamins/drugs/etc. to need replacing ... some things have a longer shelf-life, but physical changes in the pills are a good indication to get new ones ...

If the spots weren't there before you probably shouldn't take them. It could just be that the ingredients changed color and its harmless but it could also be mold or something else thats unhealthy.

Also, the bottle should have an expiration date? Vitamins only last for a year or two at most though, so even if a bottle isn't technically expired they should probably be replaced by now especially if already opened.

Well, sounds like mold to me. Get new ones.
