It really depends on what results you want. Since he's a first timer, a Swedish would probably be best or even a hot stone. Spas can get very expensive because you're paying for the "ambiance" more than anything. A great way to save money is to get him a gift certificate at a massage school. The massages are less (sometimes even 1/2!) and the students do great because they are just about out of school. Many of the schools have a spa too so they offer more than just massages (body wraps, facials, etc.)
