High Systolic Blood Pressure?!

Question: I've been having heart palpitations and headaches a lot recently, so I went to the Doctor, who told me I have a high systolic blood pressure of 165/90mmHg. She wants me to come back once a week for a month, so she can monitor my BP. My question is, what can I do to reduce this rate? She suggested taking up a cardiovascular exercise five times a week, as well as reducing salt, caffeine and fat in my diet. I can do the diet part, but I'm not sure what the best exercise would be?
I'm 17 years old, 5ft 5" and weigh 8st 5lbs if that's any help.

Thanks,

Kirsty.

Is there a history of high blood pressure in your family? If so, and it is genetic, it may require medication. The problem with medication for blood pressure is once you go on, you have to stay on for life. But it's a minor inconvenience to be healthy.

Other than that, diet and exercise are the only known lowerers. Meditation has proven to be effective as well.

Your blood pressure is high... both systolic and diastolic. It is a good thing that you are going to be having it monitored. The best way that I have found to reduce mine naturally is to eat very little sodium. It really does help. The other thing (and this is going to sound very strange... but I did some research and found out about it) is eating a teaspoon of cinnamon every day. I just sprinkle it in my coffee. Good Luck!
