Is it normal for Benefiber to make you have diarhea and to make you feel like yo!

Question: I took Benefiber for the first time yesterday evening. I took two teaspoons of the white powder that dissolves in 12 oz of water.

Around Noon today I started feeling like I needed to throw up. I also felt like I needed to poo, but it took about 15 minutes for anything to come out. (sorry for the grossness!)

Anyhoo, I was sitting downstairs and started feeling really sick like I needed to throw up. My daughter offered me some of her fish sticks and I got down right nauceous.

My gut started aching, so I went to the bathroom. After 10 minutes, I was able to go, but it was very soft stool and diarhea.

My stomach is hurting pretty bad and I keep having to run to the toilet.

What can I do to make it stop? I feel like sh*t. Not sure I can make it to work.

When you first start taking fiber supplements, it's normal to have a change in your digestive tract. Some people will experience cramping, diarrhea, or constipation. It takes about 3 days for your body to get used to the extra fiber so it's a good idea to build up to it. Decrease the dosage by 1/2, and gradually increase it every day until you are at the dosage that works for you.

I don't know what to tell you about the nausea and the diarrhea right now. you may want to stay home if you are able to and let it pass. Drink plenty of water, this will help things to come out and not let the fiber bulk up, which causes more pain and bloating.

have to let it pass! you could take imodium, but it's better just to get it out.

you might want to only try one teaspoon next time!
