Having a hard time waking up in the morning...?!

Question: I don't know why I have such a hard time waking up in the morning. I will awaken around 7 am every morning. After I go to the bathroom, I don't know why I can't physically stay out of bed. It's like I get up but am still asleep, so I end up back in bed until around 10! Please, any advice on why & how to deal with this?

~Does B12 work?

I would seek medical advice since fatigue can be a symptom of many other and sometimes serious conditions.

I would recomend you change up your routine a bit. If you get up at 7am daily, I would plan to be in bed no later than 11pm so that you are able to devote 8 hours to sleep. Also, lay out your clothes the night before in the bathroom so that you make it unnecessary to go back into your bedroom, which your body is associating with sleep. Take a nice lukewarm shower in the morning to refresh your body and try an invigorating body wash or soap. Something to awaken your senses. You could also try pre-setting your coffee maker to make a fresh pot of coffee for you every morning. The smell of coffee will help you rouse (as well as the caffeine - but don't have too much).

Sometimes an Iron deficiency causes fatigue, so ask your doctor for a blood test to rule out anemia.

Good luck and I hope you rouse soon!

try taking 30min naps during the day and sleeping at a routine time at night

Make sure you dont over sleep, surprisingly enough if you sleep longer than 9 hours it will actually make you tired lol.

Also make sure you are getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

Making sure you do that along with a healthy diet will get rid of your sleep headness.

B 12 gives you energy
Try jumping in a cool shower as soon as you get up instead of heading back to bed. Also go to be at same time each night and try taking a short cat nap around 15 minutes in the afternoon. Or you could splash water on your face and turn all the lights on in your room and house and turn some music on. Make your bed as soon as you get out so you won't be temtped to get back in. you could also get a drink of cold water. Try anything to help you wake up.

No matter what, I always wake up at about 90 minute intervals, starting at about 5:30. I've found the best thing to do is roll out of bed and go straight in to a cold shower. It feels really gross but wakes you up. Try drinking tea with lemon in it; citrus wakes you up.

If you wake up at 7, get in bed around 11 and don't do anything exciting or stimulating beforehand. If you can't fall asleep after about 20 minutes, get out of bed and go do something relaxing. I advise against reading and watching TV because those are somewhat stimulating and time passes quickly. I like to listen to relaxing music. I've found that classical and jazz are the best because they don't have lyrics for you to focus on and direct your thoughts; you can just chill out. But, don't keep watching the clock to see if it's been 20 minutes yet. You'll end up with performance anxiety and you'll get used to stressing out in bed. You want your bed -and if possible, bedroom- to be associated with sleep, not stress. If bed = sleep, it will be much easier for you.

Exercise earlier in the day will also help you fall asleep. Working out less than about four hours before bed will only make you more energetic, so don't try that. Also, try to aviod caffeine and other stimulants (remember, Excedrin has caffeine) after about noon.
