I've had about 3 liters of water today and I'm still thirsty. What's!

Question: I'm in NY so it's chilly. I don't work out and I was glued to a computer or a book for most of the day. I usually don't drink enough -or eat enough- and I'm trying to fix that. I've had 3-3.5 liters of water today and I feel thirstier than I did before, and kind of sick. It's also going right through me; I drink 250 ml and then less than ten minutes later, it's out.

I didn't have anything salty today, and generally don't have much salt. Could that be part of it?

I'm generally pretty healthy and haven't done anything that could give me parasites or anything.

What can I do? I want to chug the rest of the water on my desk (700 ml/~24 fl oz) but I also want to puke from guzzling so much.

Try having a salty snack; that might be part of the problem. Generally, what you drink must come out; however, it's not just "running right through you." Excessive thirst is one of the signs of untreated diabetes, I think; why don't you google excessive thirst and see if anything turns up. Don't forget to chow down on those pretzels though!

i dont know but i heard mono makes you thirsty. it could also be the weather.

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard of this before. I would slow down the water intake, and try and eat something instead. Maybe some bread to absorb some of the water you HAVE had and slow it down a bit, so it stays in your system a little longer.

Usually if your body is saying you're thirsty, you need to drink water, but if you're feeling sick, definitely take your time.

And I don't want to scare you, but just randomly...people who have contracted rabies get very very thirsty. I hope you haven't been bitten by an animal recently. :/

i would go and talk to your doctor asap. it is possible to get water toxicity from having too much water. remember our bodies NEED salt (just not in the amounts most western ppl eat). Extreme thirst can also be a sign of diabetes. Could you swap it for a sports drink maybe? something with electrolytes in it?

Why don't you suck on a piece of hard tack candy? You can use the sugar free if you want. You must have had something salty yesterday. Do you usually get thirsty like this? If you do you should be checked for diabetes since excessive thirst is a symptom of diabetes. It only take a drop of blood to check it. In the meantime try sucking on an ice cube instead of drinking so much water so you don't puke from guzzling water.

i suggest something salty also i'd see how long this lasts if ti continues i'd go to a doctor and is there a possibility of dehydration? i think you should limit yourself to water i know your thirst but its not good to drink to much water

you need to go to the doctor it could be really bad
blessed be

some diasesses can do that to you it the short term try a docter and eat a bit of salt but yeah i would really see a docter

it's kinda standard to have tat much of water in a day, but still when you still feel thirsty, there must be something wrong.

firstly, when you drink water, do you think that you drink too fast? when ever one drink water for too fast, they intend to pee or let it out earlier. it shows that your body don have sufficient time to absorb water thus it goes straight to ur bladder. when its its too heavy without being absord by your body, then you have to let it go.

you still feel thirsty somehow, then ask again if you often sleep late in wee hours, easily stressed or feel tired each time after meal? hardly focus sometimes yet do you have little bad breath? if you do any of symptomes above then you shold check up for your liver. whenever liver stays unhealthy, then you will feel thirsty easily, feel sick yet mouth is a little bitter taste and dry.

try to maintain healthy life style by eating balanced diet and drink enough water. try to exercise once a while to re-energize ur body.

salt sometimes will only make you thirstier, it may not the reason for your thirst.

try thiss supplement like vitamin b complex or milk thirstle if you have liver issue. yet sleep early every night and have sufficent water.drink water slowly if cant then give it a try by using a straw. feelthe water flow from your mouth to your throat thenheart. if you can sense the water flowing then its good enough.
take care, cheers

Polydipsia (extreme thirst) and polyuria (frequent urination) are both signs of undiagnosed or uncontrolled diabetes. Nausea is another. There are certainly other things much less severe than diabetes that can have these same symptoms, however, if these symptoms persist more than a couple of days and you're still feeling "yucky" you should consult a medical professional to be checked. Untreated or undiagnosed diabetes can be fatal.

When diagnosed and properly treated, diabetics can live a long happy life. Provided they take their meds and manage the disease.

I drank gallons of water 2 days ago; could not get enough! Later that night I was so sick & felt like passing out. I checked my sugar & it was 381!! It's supposed to be between 70-105 so I knew I was in trouble. I went to the Dr. today & I am now on insulin. The pills I was taking didn't help much. The Dr. said what happened to me was life threatening. I know it sure scared the hell out of me. I never felt like that before. I was nauseous & dizzy, almost went to emergency. You should have your sugar checked. That is a sign of diabetis.
