Good question. Due to the sedative, I can't remember a single second of it. I suppose it might have hurt, but since I cannot remember the pain if I had any I have to count it as a 1.
I don't believe they actually put you out cold for this. You just develop a case of instant and total amnesia of the events while the sedative is in full force.
The main prep wasn't too painful either, the gallon of trilyte laxative did taste incredibly lousy, however. Other than that it did its job OK and I felt fine.
On the other hand, the other laxative I took the night before that, magnesium citrate, did not taste bad at all but made me nauseated and gave me a headache. And it didn't even have that much laxative effect. What a waste of agony that one was.
I've always been out cold...so thats a zero for pain. The prep is torture though. Blech!
about a 4, not the most painful procedure, but enough dicomfort for you to say, ah are u about done because my butt aches.
If you are out--it's a 1. However, I'm hard to knock out and have been awake for the procedure a few times. Then it's an 8. It's horrible. Longest 15 min of your life. If you have any pain make a big fuss and have them give you more drugs!
(I've had a lot of them because I have Crohn's. I think I've had seven but it's hard to keep track!)
