Is my asthma worth going to docs?!

Question: Hi i am 13 and have had sport induced asthma since i was 10 or younger but recently it has started to get worse and it isnt just wen i am doing sport i start having attacks through simple things like painting and being around smoke! I was never given a spacer and i do find it hard to hold my breath when i take my inhalor!
Do u think i should go bak to the doctors to see weather my asthma is more than sport induced or not and should i ask whether i would be able to have a spacer?
Please answer as i dont want to get to the doctors and find out that i am wasting the docs time thanx

Spacers can be effective, however there have been numerous dry powder devices that have been around for years that are much more compact. You are not alone, too many doctors seem unaware that no more than about 50% of patients ever use MDI aerosols properly. Go discuss dry powder beta2 agonists with your GP.

yes it your helath and your lungs - go to the doctors

I think you should go back. If you know you have asthma and it's getting worse, then go back.

Yes it is worth going to the doctors as you have noticed a difference in your asthma, maybe he could refer you to an Asthma clinic..... You should ask for a spacer too, that will make it easier to take Asthma pumps.

Yes I would go and check it out.

As long as you experience real symptoms of asthma, which it definitely appears that you are, you would not be wasting a doctor's time to get professional advice on how you should manage your condition.

You want to make sure that the condition gets no worse in the future and that should you experience some other kind of attack that you know what to do about it and are so prepared.

Get an appointment now.

yeah definitely go back. They may put u on a higher dose or give u a different inhaler.

You will not be wasting time, each time you have an asthma attack your heart and lungs are put under pressure. This is not a very good thing to ignore.
My son seems to have grown out of asthma, but when he was younger he ended up in hospital at least half a dozen times, seeing him like that was really shocking.
I think you should do whatever you can to stop it progressing and becoming worse! :o)

You won't be wasting the doctor's time. You have a genuine concern about your health so never worry about going to see the doctor, far better to go and be told there's nothing to worry about, than to leave it and end up having a bad asthma attack and having to go to hospital. If you are really worried talk to your parents too, as they will reassure you that doctors never mind when someone goes to see them with a real worry about their health.

yes you should. im the same as you, it was just sports related but then it just got worse, especially around smoke. my doc gave me a brown circular inhaler that i take once i the morning and at night and its made alot of difference.
so just get it checked out, better safe than sorry !

go to a doctor.
