What are some ways to treat a sore throat and a stuffy nose?!

Question: I woke up this morning and my throat was sore and I was stuffy. I'm hoping its not a sinus infection or a cold cause I'm going to a Christian Women's conference on friday and saturday (the conference is about 5-6 hrs from where I live). I don't want this sore throat and stuffy nose to get worse cause I don't want to be feeling sick during the conference.

I'm going to the doctor today for a check-up regarding my acid reflux and I think I'm going to have the doctor check my throat and my nose and I'm also going to ask if he can give me a prescription so I can keep this thing at bay.

My question is are there any ways that I can get rid of my sore throat and stuffy nose faster?

I know that honey is good so I had some toast with honey this morning for breakfast and I also know that drinking hot tea is good and I'm actually drinking some tea right now.

Get some rest, drink orange juice and tea, use some cough drops to soothe your throat. Maybe even eat some Popsicles to help soothe the swelling in your throat.

Sudafed and vitamin C.

Hot tea is good for opening up your sinuses. Also try using vapor rub under your nose which can help open it up, it might also help to blow your nose once it opens up and try to get all the mucus and stuff out of your system.
Suck on cough drops throughout the day for your throat, basically the usuals for your common cold.
Try that zicam medication, it is supposed to make your cold go away faster.

dayquil/nyquil works good.

Don't dilute the honey-let it coat your throat. Suck on Chloraseptic lozenges. And use vicks dabbed under your nose and breathe in deeply, that should help with the stuffy nose.
