I had a similar prob with back pain worsening from too much sitting at work, so now I'm taking sign language classes. It's a long program, but eventually I should be able to get work as an interpreter. It pays well, you have your pick when/if you want work, and you can either sit or stand at will. I'm hoping this will be an answer for me. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out an ideal job, but this is the closest I came up with. Good luck! I like the idea of asking your employer for accomodations. That may be the best place to start. I did that, but no accomodation we tried helped me.

do something where you can sit/lounge, and as for your condition, swimming should help.

Have you thought of getting back support pillows for your back at your "current" job.

They can make the world of difference.

You can attach them to your existing office chair, car chair etc.

I'd look into them.

Speak with your employer. I have firbromalygia and I have found that if I am able to sit for awhile and then walk for abit it eases my systems. Exercise is very good for this condition and my doctor recommended that I took the herb Devils Claw to help ease the muscle stiffness. I know it is hard to exercise when you are sore but the benefits you get a great. Try to build up slowly and increase the exercise on a weekly basis.

Check out using Dead Sea Salts in a bath. This causes great relief and takes the weight off the back as you soak. I buy mine over the net from ebay. I find great relief from the stuff.

The employer should allow you to move around. Try and take some walks at regular intervals - morning tea, lunch time and afternoon tea time. I know its not the best but it helps.

Try also swimming. This is a great non load bearing sport.

Good luck
Amy
