What is this hard brown stuff thats attached inside my belly button?!

Question: If i spread by belly button i see this hard-brown solid gunk in there thats about the size of the hole. When i touch it i can feel a unpleasant sensation that kind of travels up in my belly. It hurts a little bit if i try to tug on it but i'm scared to really mess with it.

Is this part of the actual umbilical cord that was cut off or does it all fall off after birth? I've always thought thats what it was and that it was like this for everyone. Is the hole suppose to be closed off with just skin?

Should i try to remove it, and if so, how?
And sorry if this is a stupid question, i'm naive about everything

The cluster inside the navel is usually an accumulation of lint, sloughed off skin, body oil, perspiration.

Before going to sleep at night,

? Soak the brown gunk in olive oil (any cooking oil will do) for a few minutes. Increase the soaking time by placing a cotton ball soaked in oil and tape it in place.

? In the morning when you take your bath, check if the cluster is soft. Remove the cluster as tolerated.

? Continually do this every night and before a shower; soon, the navel will be completely clean.

I dont know but that unpleasant sensation is due to a major nerve that connects straight accross to the spinal cord

maybe you should see a doctor about that I doubt that youll find what you need here unless someones a doctor
