Question: why do we need Medication to run how lives now

Answers: why do we need Medication to run how lives now

because the pharmaceutical companies fun on government funding and use that money to run propaganda ads

I have no idea - I know that some people do have a need for medication and I'm not saying it should be banned or anything but it's the new freakin trend, and everybody has to be on something. Life is life and people have been dealing with stresses and troubles for thousands of years and managed to make it. People seem more f***ed up now than they ever were, even though they have been on Oxy and Zanax for years and it was supposed to make everything ok.

But don't you see, medication is the answer for everything now and we eat it up. I see this a lot with students...can't focus in school, they need medication. Everything revolves around it, and I think it's pretty pathetic. Instead of dealing with our problems, we just turn to a pill to make it better.

To answer directly: Because it's a convenient excuse for ones behavior.

The current "Mental Health" craze is pushed because it is a money maker. It's almost a symbiotic relationship between the mental health profession and pharmacutical companies. They both profit off one another.

The field of psychiatry is based on subjectivity, translation being Bullsh*t. Diagnosis incorporates wide lattitude, even with the guidance in using the DSM-IV. So, "there has to be some form of medication we can give to alleviate the symptoms".

If you check a Physicians Desk Reference you'll find a lot of medications used to treat mental health disorders are used simply because they may be a form of neuroinhibitor. They weren't developed for mental health. In many cases the medication used is a trial and error guessing game. It wasn't until within the last 12 years that pharmacuticle companies started to seriously realize the dollar potential of labeling various compounds for the treatment of mental health disorders.

Pharmacuticle companies love it. Not only does it increase sales, but now they have ready made, ongoing field studies being performed under "controlled conditions" on live humans. Best part is, the guinie pigs are paying to validate the med's.

What drives it? Society being society wants a ready made fix for just about everything, including unacceptance of accountability and responsibility. "It can''t possibly be because that person chooses to act the way they do". Does that 9 year old really have ADHD, or does he just need a good old fashioned butt warming and a set of parents to stay on him to make him tow the line? Of course not...it must be an organic or inorganic cause. That person must have some sort of mental or behavioral mood disorder preventing them from being nice and getting along well with others...yadda, yadda, yadda. It's convenient.

The mental health field is self serving. What better way to assure job security than to make the public believe your point of view, that you're needed because the world is full of Pinky and the Brain characters? So, the shrinks tell people their not wrapped to tight and the pharmacuticle companies claim they have a medication to fix that little problem. And the wheel continues to spin.
