Hot and cold flashes in my 20s??!

Question: I just turned 24, but this has been happening for a few years. Usually happens in bed. I'll start off very cold to touch (I figured it's just poor circulation), especially my arms even if I'm wearing long sleeves. I'll curl up in two fuzzy blankets and have socks on my feet, and shiver until I fall asleep. Often I'll wake up in the middle of the night or when my boyfriend's alarm goes off, which is hours before I need to get up. I'm fine right when I wake up, but once I start moving (like to readjust to get back to sleep), I'm suddenly really hot and have to throw the covers off. Then I get really cold maybe 15 min after. Even if I try to use just one blanket after that, I'll get really hot again pretty quickly. I hope that all makes sense. What might be causing this?

These are possible symptoms of a hormone imbalance.

You are describing hot flashes and sleep disorders that normally plague perimenopausal and menopausal women due to progesterone/estrogen imbalances.

Simply put:
1. The hypothalamus (in the brain) sends FSHR to the pituitary gland.
2. The pituitary gland (in the brain) sends FSH and LH to the bloodstream.
3. FSH and LH cause your ovaries to prepare an egg for release (this is called a follicle).
4. The follicle releases estrogen.
5. The estrogen causes your uterus to build up a lining.
6. The estrogen signals your hypothalamus and pituitary to produce LH and LH-RF, which causes the egg to burst free.
7. If the egg is fertilized, it implants and produces progesterone, which helps sustain a pregnancy.
8. If the egg is not fertilized and progesterone is not produced, the vessels in the uterine lining close off, stopping blood flow. The lining then sloughs off as your period.

This is a delicately-balanced series of events. As you can see, much of it takes place in your brain. Many girls in their teens and 20's have hot flashes due to hormonal imbalances.

You may want to see a physician to determine the exact cause of your symptoms. It needn't be serious, but it's obviously causing you discomfort and lack of sleep.

There are a lot of different things, a lot of the time an anxiety disorder can cause hot and cold flashes, i would say menopause but i dont think you are quite old enough lol

i have cold flashes now and im 17 my feet are ends of my fingers are always cold but when im in cold weather i am really hot and uncomfortable probably needs some adapting to weather patterns
