Can someone tell me why or what the use of the "Appendix" was?!

Question: Nobody knows for sure, and if they tell you they do know for certain, they're lying

Answers: Nobody knows for sure, and if they tell you they do know for certain, they're lying

it had something to do with the aiding of raw meat digestation , in the days of the caveman...

It is apparently to "help" digest food, but it helps at such a minute amount, that it might as well not be there anyways...

If you put your trust in evolutionary based publications like the 1997 Encyclop?dia Britannica, you would think of your appendix this way:

The appendix does not serve any useful purpose as a digestive organ in humans, and it is believed to be gradually disappearing in the human species over evolutionary time.

However, even in 1976 medical textbooks were beginning to admit the appendix had functions:

The appendix is not generally credited with significant function; however, current evidence tends to involve it in the immunologic mechanism.

And in a 1995 medical textbook, the authors are emphatic about the function of the appendix:

The mucosa and submucosa of the appendix are dominated by lymphoid nodules, and its primary function is as an organ of the lymphatic system.

Despite this, many public school texts still continue indoctrinating people in the idea that the appendix is great evidence that man evolved.

I dont know why we have them but i do know that if they rupture it can be life threatening as this happened to my brother, in my family im the only one who still has appendix my mum dad and brother have all had theirs removed

the appendix is today useless and is even disappearing threw evolution but was used for the digestion of raw meats

The currnet medical beleif is that the appendix acts like a warehouse for bacteria. The bowel is full of bacteria that we need to survie. it is commonly called normal flora in microbioloy reports. when someone gets an infection, or a bacteria starts to grow rapently - doctors will prescribe antibiotics to deal with the infection

antibiotics may take care of the intended infection, but i can kill the normal bacteria that we need. enter the appendix - by releasing the bacteria hidden within it, the intestense can be but back to their correct state in short order before something more sinister comes along

In herbivores the appendix is a store for bacteria that digest cellulose. We have lost this function and it is merely a vestigial organ.
