Question: I have shared this w/ no one, here goes... For the last 2 years ( since my 5th misscariage) I have been secretly abusing pain meds. I am very ashamed and I cant do this any longer. I can not let this affect my family or control me any longer. I dont ask for anyone to sugar coat anything I dont deserve anyone to be nice about this, I have done this to myself. I am just scared of something, how will my withdawls be? Do I need to contact a Dr. or can I do this on my own. I really do appreciate any advice offered-ThankYou

I think you should first try to do it yourself. first you need to get rid of all and any of the drugs in your household that could tempt you to take them. then you're just going to have to force yourself to beat the urge to take the drugs. if you can't do it yourself, then you should consult a doctor and get the help you need.
Good luck hun

It will be easier to manage with a doctor's help, which is what I recommend. I have a family member who became addicted to pain meds after several surgeries and who eventually had to spend some time in a nursing home in order to fully recover. You may be able to do it yourself, but a doctor will be best able to help you find a plan to decrease your use.

Ask your doctor for help, he can show you how gradually get off of them. At least my doctor did. And, it was actually relatively painless.

. It depends on the meds. If it's opiates, it will be rough to withdraw.
It's often recommended to have medical assistance.
And there is NOThing to be ashamed of.
Google 'pain medication withdrawal' .

First of all, you might have already noticed this, but the reason for your miscarigaes were probably because of you taking too many pain medications. You should definetly contact a doctor. The worst they can do is offer you counseling or something, and thats not bad. You did enough by asking. Just plz go to a docotr and stop this because it can affect you and everyone around you that loves you.
