Emetophobic and i actually vomited!!!?!

Question: Emetophobic and i actually vomited!!!?
Right guys, i am severely emetophobic to the point of i feel nauseous every single day with fear and worry that i might actually throw up. Anyway, wednesday night, i did just that! I woke up at 2.30 am and had an awful pain in mt stomach, went hot and dizzy, started heaving then vomited. It was only a bit and was mainly liquid. It wasnt too bad at the time but now im freaking out that im gonna be throwing up all the time. I really need some reassurance on this from anyone who understands. Thanks! :0)

hey i know what you're going through, i'm emet too. i know how hard it is to think rationally about it, believe me, but thats what you have to try to do. you threw up yes, but now its over. its not going to happen again.

try distracting yourself, read a book, put the tv on, go for a walk. try not to find yourself in a position with nothing to do, ipod and the like are a lifesaver! if you need extra security, try carrying something like domperidone (anti emetic) with you, so if you feel ill you can take a tablet and it will calm it down. it does help, although its not a long term solution. good luck, and trust me, there is a one in a million billion chance of you throwing up again, its really not going to happen. good luck. email me if you want to chat :) cancer.girl@btinternet.com

It may have been that you had eaten something bad, or that you had a mild bug. Vomitting is a natural reaction from your body when it needs to rid itself of something. If it was just once, i would not worry too much.

Try not to become to anxious. You will only vomit when your body needs to and hopefully this should be rare!!

Have you tried counselling or seeing your doc with regards to your emetophobia?
Good Luck
