Urgent Care or Emergency???!

Question: What is the difference???

Answers: What is the difference???

urgent care is for non-emergencies
emergency is for EMERGENCY!!! DAHH

Urgent care is for afterhours medical illnesses that could be treated by your doctor if it was during regular office hours. Some urgent care centers will also sew up lacerations. If you are having chest pain go to the emergency department. If you have a sore throat then you go to urgent care.

Hey man, ok so emergency would be like if you broke a bone and needed to get it xrayed and checked out right away vs urgent care which is more like... i have a cold but i dont feel like making an appointment with my docter but i want perscription medication, then in that situation you would go to urgent care, basically a walk in doctor

Urgent care is for something that needs attention but is not an emergency. For example, a cold. The emergency room is for emergencies that may be life threatening. For example, chest pain could be a heart attack, bleeding that is uncontrollable.....etc. The cost of care is also different. Urgent Cares charge way less than an ER.

Fianancially, the typical Insurrance co-pay for an ER visit is $100+ while an urgent care is $35-50

Both facilities have trained Doctors and Nurses who can help stabilize you, an ER has more equipment and usually have specially trained "Trauma Teams" to aid you in a serious emergency.

If you got a sprained ankle, need stitches, or have a flu bug, goto the Urgent Care. If your bone is sticking through your skin, or clearly broken, you think you are having a heart attack, or you've been shot, ER.
