Ringworm please help me PLEASE?!

Question: I'm scared I might get ringworms. My cat has them and i accidently walked outside and pet her before i saw the patches missing from her. Please help me. I touched my eye- I don't care if it gets on my eye- I just don't want it in my hair. I took a very long, hot shower no more than 5 minutes after i touched my eye. I washed my hands for about 5 minutes before and after the shower. I cleaned my face, washed my hair thoroughly, and my body without missing a spot. I'm worried i might still get the ringworms. Please, PLEASE, PLEASE. help me. I will do anything. Anything at all.

OH AND- her ringworm is not red or anything. it's just a patch of missing hair

Take it easy. Just buy some anti-fungal cream from your local wal-mart or drugstore and apply it about 3 times a day, after washing the area with mild soap and water and patting dry. Thats IF it shows up on you at all.

** But also, PLEASE take your cat to the vet! **

Take care of her as well. Its not normal for her to have a patch of hair missing. She needs to be checked out whether she's just been in a fight or if she has ringworm. When we rescued a kitten, I had thought she had been burned by cigarettes. Turns out, the small circles without the red ring was ringworm for her. She had a regime of exactly what I told you to do above.

Rest easy, its just a mild fungus. Don't forget the kitty please.

That's not ringworm then.

ringworm is not a big deal. chill the heck out and go buy some cream.

Go to the dermatologist and see if they can give you something. You also might want to check Wal-Mart for an ointment.

Ring worm in humans shows up as a raised, red, itchy ring. Don't worry about it. Even if you do get it, it is very easy to get rid of. Doctors can prescribe a pill. Just take two pills, it goes away.

Ringworm is a common skin disorder, especially among children, but it may affect people of all ages. Although its name suggests otherwise, it is caused by a fungus, not a worm.

Many bacteria and fungi live on your body. Some of these are useful to you and your body. Others can multiply rapidly and form infections. Ringworm occurs when a particular type of fungus grows and multiplies anywhere on your skin, scalp, or nails.

Ringworm is contagious. It can be passed from one person to the next by direct skin-to-skin contact or by contact with contaminated items such as combs, unwashed clothing, and shower or pool surfaces. You can also catch ringworm from pets that carry the fungus. Cats are common carriers.

The fungi that cause ringworm thrive in warm, moist areas. Ringworm is more likely when you have frequent wetness (such as from sweating) and minor injuries to your skin, scalp, or nails.

Treatment

Keep your skin clean and dry.
Apply over-the-counter antifungal or drying powders, lotions, or creams. Those that contain miconazole, clotrimazole, or similar ingredients are often effective.
Wash sheets and nightclothes every day while infected.

ringworm is a fungal infection. fungal infection is different in human and animals. some fungus that is found in animal cannot affect humans so you need not to worry.

Well first don't worry to much , even if you do get it there is a cream that you can get over the counter at the local store or Pharmacy that will take it away fast. And the likelihood of you getting it in your hairs is slim to none so don't worry to much K. And as you said you too A shower so I'm sure you are fine. Just take care of it with the Animal.
Good Luck.

Other than waiting to see if you have it, the only other thing to do is to get your kitty treated. You'll have to take her to the vet and get a medication, good luck, cats hate medication. No point in giving her a topical treatment as that rarely works, she'll need it by mouth. If you don't see anything on yourself within 2 weeks then you're fine. If you do see a spot you'll have to get yourself an antifungal cream, such as the kind used for athlete's foot. If it gets in your hair, you'll have to apply the cream to the spots, hair may fall out unfortunately but keep your fingers crossed, you may be lucky!

Ringworm isn't that infectious. You'll be fine.

Your Dr. can give you this terrific cream called Oxistat.

Just because you touched your cat and then touched your eye doesn't mean that you will contract the fungus. (ringworm is a fungi not a worm)

If you see a round, red patch on your skin or scalp you probably have ringworm. However it is easily treated with over the counter lotion. Try Lamisil or Tinactin if you see it on your skin or the ingredients in Head&Shoulders will treat any on your scalp.

1-800-675-6368, is the toll free number for ask a nurse. they'll answer questions for anyone and its free. It'd be a good idea to call a health care proffesional and see what they suggest because they'd know better about things like this than any one on here.

if it's just a patch of fur missing, then it's not a ringworm. Don't be worried. A ringworm is a fungal infection in which a ring appears on your face due to touching dirt, or anything nasty. If you think that you still have something, just get cream and be sure to wash yourself and your hands daily. Be safe!

cases like that,, hmnmm.. unless you are immunocompromised you'll sure get that. The Tineas (cutaneous mycoses) caused by Trichophytons, Epidermophytons, and MIcrosporums are usually opportunistic. You need not be scared. Regular bathing will lessen your predilection to such fungus. Anyway, wing worm of the body (as in the entire body) can be transmitted from animals. but as I've said, good hygiene will prevent it's growth. you'll see if there's a change on your skin in 5-11 days. if there is, take ketoconazole, fluconazole, or itraconazole. you can also apply tioconazole on it 2x a day for 1-3 weeks. once you see a lession, immediately apply the medicine so that it'll take less than a week.
