How can I see a doctor for something that happens.....?!

Question: occasionally?

How do they check and see if something's wrong?

Sometimes like once or twice a year my breathing stops every few seconds and lasts for several hours. It's annoying and I don't have allergies nor heart problems. It doesn't happen when I'm stressed out.

Just go to the doctor and tell him about it. If he needs further proof, he will put a monitor on you. I think there are other ways for him to find out. This sounds serious.

you sound fine.

One ponders if this happens at the same time every year, I would think about that then look outside and note what is in flower, grass, trees, shrubs, etc. It is possible just to be allergic to say Ivy pollen which only flowers once a year and maybe tree pollen (those that flower early in the season).

It could even be a psychological trigger that gives symptoms of a suppressed memory (an event that occurred a long time ago at a certain time of year)

when it happens, if you can't breathe at all, have someone take you the ER, if you can still function correctly, you can drive. just make sure to go to the hospital while its happening so that they can do tests asap. good luck :)

You can still see a Dr. even though you are not having symptoms at the time, they usually will know what is wrong just from what your symptoms are or they may run tests but from what I read here this is not a serious problem and you are worrying needlessly. If it was a serious problem it would happen more often and the breathing would not start back on its own. Once or twice a year is nothing to worry about. If it starts happening more often and you have trouble getting your breath you will need to see a Dr. but this is nothing I would bother a doctor with at this point. You are ok.

When it's happening go to a pulmonologist who will check to see if you have asthma.

If it's lasting for several hours go to ER.
