Ssi question?!

Question: I live in New York State and have been unable to return back to college because I have become sick. The doctors and speacilists are unable to find the cause of my sickness. I am physically unable to work, I would love to be able to continue college(I was in my last semester) and work but I can not. I do not have a solid work history, I have had part time employment while attending school. I was forced to move back home, but I am straining my parents income. Is there anyway in New York State to recieve SSI if the diagnosis is unknown? My doctor will back my symptoms but I have no diagnosis

Please call an attorney about this and explain what you have said here.

If your illness is debilitating, you might have a case. The doctors for Social Security will have to examine you, so please be honest with them, and prepare yourself. Have all of your documentation and medical records ready, too.

Your best bet is to talk to an ssdi specialist (social security disability income) who knows the ins and out and how to best get you ssdi. Most of them charge a fee. Some are lawyers and charge more. There are some that are not lawyers and are just as good as the lawyers at getting you qualified. The real problem is that your ssdi will be quite small if you haven't worked much as the amount is based on what you have paid into social security. Also you have to have your doctor document that he expects you to be disabled at least a year. Give it a try. Look up on the internet for specialists in ssdi in your area. Some will only charge you if you qualify otherwise it is free. Those people often times will only charge part of the disability payments you get approved for in the months before you get the ssdi.
Mine was done in that way. My ssdi was approved the same month as I could start my ssdi so I was not charged at all. There is an initial waiting period before you can start ssdi and I don't remember what it is but the specialist can tell you. Start the paper work before that date so that maybe by the time you can start collecting you will already be approved. I am from Minnesota but ssdi is a federal program so it is the same in all states.

i dont know about new york, but in michigan they'll give you money for no good reason at all. like my older sister, she claims that she has bipolar disorder, but what she really has is lazy.
