Horrible neck pain, please help!!?!

Question: ive been under alot of stress lately. yesterday just the left side of my neck started to hurt. its about every 10-20 seconds now i get this dull pain. i try rubbing it to help with the pain but i cant pinpoint exactly where it is, so thats no help. im wearing a salonpas (its basically an icyhot patch) but its not helping; also took an excedrin since ibproufen makes me nauseous. its so bad i had to get out of bed before 6 am (i sleep in all the time so 6 is extremely early fo rme to be awake). please help? does anyone have any idea what this could be? please dont tell me to go to the doctor or chiropractor, thats an obvious answer that i cant afford because i have no insurance or job right now.

i know i just posted this in the pain management section but im not getting any answers and im very concerned.

The pain can be muscular or nerve. If it is nerve pain it could be from an injury in the spine.

If treatment for muscular pain (icyhot, bengay, etc.) is not helping, it still may be muscular, but could be nerve.

I recommend going to your doctor.

I had what I thought was muscle pains in my leg - turned out it was a ruptured disc.

Since you cannot afford a doctor I recommend changing your pillow. Sleeping with your head at unusual or severe angles can cause this.

Also, try sleeping on a different side of your body.

I am not trying to scare you, just recommend that if it does not go away you should see your doctor.

If you cannot afford a doctor you should consider going to a public charity clinic or hospital.

What I was going to recommend, you've already done. The only other thing I can think of is to try icing it, then follow up with heat. See which makes it feel better and continue doing that. Also, roll a towel and put it under your neck when you lay down. Sorry you can't go to the doctor. It makes me so mad when I hear that people don't have health insurance. We waste so much money worrying about other countries instead of taking care of our own.

I know you don't want to here this, But you should go see a Doctor.

for how long you have that pain?Keep it worm and you will be OK.Don't worry
