Why do some smells make us feel sick?!

Question: thanks

Answers: thanks

the scents that we smell are tiny particles that travel to smell receptors in out noses (more actually in our sinus but whatever), and what we smell is sent directly to our brain. Most things that smell unpleasing aren't normally thing we would want to be around so the point of the nautious feeling is actually a warning that we are around a substance that is unsafe or just plain disgusting.

Think about how skin patterns and colors warn of dangers in animals and plants, well its the same thing with small receptors, all we smell has an effect on our mood and our body physically, as well as mentally. The smell of a rose for example is pleasing and make us feel better and inproves our mood.

In fact, Unpleasant smells can also affect our perceptions and evaluations. In one study, the presence of an unpleasant odour led subjects not only to give lower ratings to photographed individuals, but also to judge paintings as less professional, as plesant smells had an opposite effect.
