Pediatrician or gynaecologist - which is the better job?!

Question: work with kids or save lives during childbirth?

Answers: work with kids or save lives during childbirth?

i think pediatrician, you'd get a wider spread of sick kids that need your help than just the ones needing help in childbirth,
i think it would also be a more interesting job, but either one would be a great job to have, as youd be saving lives (:

I'd say Pediatrician, there is less blood involved.
Either way the training is still Severe.

Both are noble.... neither one is better then the other. totally different MD's

gynaecologist probe womens vaginas right? definately that

gynaecologist

being an obgyn might kind of ruin vaginas for me, probably would make them all medical and stuff in your head. So i guess i would rather be a pediatrician.

depend on your aptitude. Both are good subject.

gynaecologist. it would be a great job. giving parents their baby for the first time. that is one job i am considering for when i get older. i have also been thinking about a pediatrician, but i think the kids would be really scared of you, and i dont think i would like that. go to your hospital and volunteer, its fun, and you get a lot of expirience, and you get to see how different jobs work. see for yourself which is better. hope i helped and good luck. =D

Actually an obstetrician is the doctor that gives birth and works with pregnant women. A gynecologist does not.

Working with kids is great. However you will have to accept that you will more that likely catch A LOT of colds.

I guess the major question is, where would you feel most comfortable? As an OB you will work in an office and take many trips to the hospital. You will also be on call a lot. Witnessing birth can be very exciting, but you have to have a stomach for it.

Working with children as patients means you will have to have patience, creativity and really be able to communicate well with little people.

Suggestion: Seek out an OB and a Pediatrician. Ask them if you could shadow them for a few days. So you can see what it is like first-hand what a day in the life of is really like.

depends on your interest but they should work together, because the trend now is total family health care, the soon to be mother is already sent to mother's classes conducted by pedia and ob-gynecology services. Its more of a field of interest that you consider both services will be working collaboratively as once an obstetrician deliver a baby she then refers the baby to the pediatrician.good luck!
