When your friend was discharged from the hospital after the surgery, they should have given him a "diet" such as liquids or soft foods. If this isn't the case, it is usually best after any surgery in the throat i.e. tonsilectomy, to stick with a liquid to soft diet for the first few days, such as soups, ice cream, clear sodas, etc. If you are in doubt, the best solution is to call the hospital where the surgery was performed and ask the nurses from the recovery room, or to contact his physician's office directly.

Your friend should have been given instructions on what dietary limitations there might be. The doctor or hospital should have given a number to call if there were complications or questions.

If your friend was told diet as tolerated or regular diet, then they can eat whatever they feel like. They may want to start with liquids, no alcohol, and change to solids when they feel like it.

They have to verify what the doctor wants them to do.

dont give him anything to eat..just bring him flowers or anything..because you dont know the doctors orders for the diet of your friend..

The doctor shouldve given him a list of things to eat. Normal procedure is clear liquids, then regular liquids, soft food ( mashed potato, jello), regular diet.
