Both of your complaints are symptoms of low thyroid. Other symptoms are being tired or cold. However, you may have low thyroid without having all of the symptoms. A simple blood test is all that's needed to diagnose it. Get to the doctor and find out.
Those are not the symptoms of diabetes as suggested by another answer.

girl or boy? could be menopause. go to ur doctor to get it checked out. or it could be Thyroid hormone deficiency

My hair began falling out and over a period of 6 months I put on about 40 pounds. It turned out I was hypothyroid.

SOUNDS LIKE A JOB FOR THE PRO'S TO ME! GO SEE A DOCTOR!!!!

It could just be stress, but I would see a doctor because that could be possible signs of some cancers.

A lot of people eat more food when they're stressed out. You may not even realize it. Also, when you get stressed out, a hormone is released that can sometimes make you gain weight.

You might just be coping with stress by over eating, you should probably ask your doctor

diabetes...u guess

go see a doctor.

GO THE DOCTOR NOW! Do not waste time in here asking for answers. We cannot DIAGNOSE YOU. Get your thyroid checked and talk to your doctor.

well ,if you middle aged then that normal b/c ur matabolism is decreasing...and the hair well that must be genetic....hope this helps. ....if your in your teens to late 20s then you must be eating more that you work off, and still hair loss is probely genes kickin in....but go to the doc if your worried about it .i hope this helps

Stress reacts differently on different people. However physically, your body when it undergoes stress, as a defense mechanism will begin to go into preservation mode where your fat storing capabilities increase so that you have the energy to survive the stressor. Now with some they probably eat less when they get stressed. So much less that even in their preservation mode they don't consume enough to gain weight. Now again, everyone reacts differently to stress so there's not just one answer to this question.
And I'm forced to agree with some of them above me. You should at least talk to a doctor just to make sure that it's only stress and not something more serious. At the very least a doctor can refer you to a psycologist so you can express yourself and maybe release some of the stress.

I have experienced the same thing and it is very common to lose/gain weight during a time of high stress. The best thing you can do is figure out what to do to relieve yourself of so much stress,if your eating habits have changed (which probably have, causing the weight gain) and what you can do to fix this situation. Wheather it's family problems work or relationship there is always help out there, try taking some vitamins, eat better, and relax, perhaps a brisk walk every now and then will help you clear your mind to focus on your problems and how to resolve them.If all else fails then try talking to a doctor it could be something that requires medical attention.
