As for the actual operation it is a piece of cake my little sister had it at the age of 15 and it was a in and out operation it will be hard for you to talk after but you shouldn't talk a lot after anyways you will need your rest plus you'll get to feast upon Italian ice and ice cream so that's a up to it!

Thyroid levels affect the baby's development so be sure to let them know you think you are pregnant. I'm sure it's scary but depending on why it's being done, I'm sure it's very important.
please for the love of God for the sake if you are carrying a child tell the anaesthetist that you think you may be pregnant!!!! a general anaesthetic is far from just sleeping, its allowing you to sleep so that they can operate. the anaethetic itself reduces your bloodpressure and with the added normal stress response of surgical trauma, also coming into play you could be doing your baby a world of damage by not telling someone. as for the operation, takes about 30-45 minutes, and isnt that painful post-op. the only thing which could cause a bit of pain is a infection at the site of the inscision, but they will monitor you for this
