What would cause a person's veins to collapse over and over?!

Question: Whenever a dr needs to draw blood, it takes 5 or 6 pokes before they can find a vein that doesn't just collapse right away. And when the Hoxworth van came to our work, I went to donate and my blood ran so slowly that they just took the needle out and told me it would be impossible for me to donate.
I've never been an IV drug user or anything, i've had this problem for years though. Does anyone else experience this? And is there a valid reason for it?

I'm a Lab tech and work at a dialysis center.....when you go to the doctor are they trying to draw blood from the same spot...if so they need to find another draw site and also you should make sure that you are drinking enough water...it's good for the veins.
If you are going to donate blood and it's running slow it might not be because your vein collapsed...it could be that they have the needel in a narrow spot, it on the bend of the vein, or the bevel of the needel is against the wall of the vein. They should try to reposition the needle ...no one likes to get stuked twice.....lol.....lol.....lol
