Question on when you have a broken leg?!

Question: I was just wondering, if you're diagnosed with a broken leg at the hospital. Do they straight away start on the casting or does anything else happen first?

Also what are the steps exactly that doctors take when casting legs or such?

They often splint it till the swelling stabilizes. Give you crutches and then you go to an orthopedic doctor in a few days. They decide what to do then. If the bones need set back in place, they numb your leg and realign them. If its bad, then they do surgery. To do the cast, they just put a stocking on your leg and wrap it with soft cotton. Then they wrap it with wet fiberglass bandages and hold it in place. The cast hardens in like 5 minutes and then you're done - you can't move your leg anymore.

there are x-rays then they decide, they then determine what parts of your leg need to be wrapped and they wash it with this special stuff and then they put on the cast

hope I helped!

triage...
nurse....
dr,
x-rays,
usually a leg is casted in a special soft cast for a few day's to allow for the swelling to reduce,
you go back,
another x-ray,
dr,
(it is at this stage where they determine if the bone needs to be re-set, or if you need reconstructive surgery),
then a new permanent cast,
for as long as it takes the bone to heal well enough to support your weight....
