Could I have a ruptured ear drum?!

Question: My friends all had these pieces of bubble wrap. And they were the big ones, the bubbles that are about the size of quarters (not pea size). One of them put it right next to my ear and popped it. Immediately I heard ringing and loss of hearing.

The ringing stopped after about 4-5 minutes, but the hearing loss is still present. I do feel I have recovered most of my hearing back, but definately not all. And I can still hear somekind of noise in the backround of my ear...kinda like very faint TV static.

This all happened about 3 hours ago.
Could I possibly have a ruptured ear drum?

possible, but i think it is more like temp deafness - should be better in 12 to 24 hours.

burst eardrum HURTS. a lot.

yes, you need to go to a ENT (ear, nose, and throat) doc and get checked out

I suppose anything is possible, if you're worried about it you should probably go see a doctor. I doubt that there is any severe damage but there maybe permanent hearing loss if you're ears were ringing like you said.

exposure to heavy sound rays and sudden blasts of sounds can rupture them.(examples-having speakers on full used for speeches were people gather in tens of thousands-and being right next to them, or being in the close blast radius of heavy or powerful explosives- usually most people have a ringing in their ears for a long time or it could rupture your ear drums.) so i think that this could have ruptured your ear drum. the ringing was normal, but sometimes your mind can play the rest. you are probably upset with that response, but your mind also makes you see visions, makes you feel sick, and pretty much just anything that can make you feel uncomfortable.
