The first step is recognizing when and why you are doing it For some people they do it because they are bored or nervous. Once you recognize why you are doing it then focus on fixing that problem. Lets say you bite your nails in class because you are bored. Try paying attention to the teacher more, or taking better notes. If its because you are nervous try to focus on positive things and keep your hands away from your mouth. Sometimes it helps if you are able to chew gum. Some poeple put bandaids over each fingernail to make them remember not to bite. Also painting your fingernails bright red as in a stop sign to remind yourself to STOP. Gluing on those fake fingernails can also help, after all who wants to eat plastic.

Get them professionally done with acrylic. Continue until you get use to them and therefore, won't have the urge to bite your real nails. Good Luck!

If you lack the will power to stop biting your nails, don't ever touch tobacco.

put something that tastes really bad, but won't make you sick on your nails. That way, whenever you go to bite them, they will taste so terrible that you won't want to. try neosporin

Did you know there is more bacteria living on and under your nails than the rest of your body??? AND YOU PUT THEM IN YOUR MOUTH ALL THE TIME?!?! EW!!

Hope that helped a little. It's true, too.

I'm 33 and I've been biting my nails as young as i can remember. If I put on acrylic nails, i'll stop but then i find myself biting the fake nails or at least picking them.

I usually paint my nails, put tape on them, or dip them in nail-polish remover.(which tastes really bad.)

My six year old nephew had this problem...

I know that there is a quit-nail-biting solution that you can buy at drugstores (and probably Wal-Mart). It is in a bottle about the size of a nail polish bottle and has a little nail polish brush in it. It is just a liquid that you brush on your nails and it tastes really bad.

Or another idea... Start a hobby where it is beneficial to have long nails, like playing classical guitar.

Or get acrylic nails. Not only does it look nice, but you definitely aren't going to bite those.

dip them in vinegar, it helped me.

Perhaps wearing gloves might be an option.
