Okay, my nose is almost constantly stuffy, especially at night.
I got addicted to Afrin for a while... had to stop. Zyrtec, Claritin, Pseudoephedrine, etc. are only temporary measures.
I don't know any 'permanent' measures, so it depends.
If you have a cold, just use nasal spray. It works WONDERFULLY but can have a reverse effect (makes it worse) if you use it for more than a few days.
If you have allergies or a constant stuffy nose, consider getting an allergy shot, or getting an ionic breeze, or freshing the air in your house.
I just went surfing yesterday and my nose has been clear all day, and was clear all last night. Maybe the salt water helped? I've heard of something using salt water to clean the sinuses called a neti pot or something... you should give that a shot and see if it works. It's defintiely the most healthy alternative.
zicam works well and is immediate.
The best home remedy, doesn't cost much, is swallow a spoonful of chinese mustard, it may burn at first but it helps your sinuses so much
(wasabi can be used but doesn't work half the time)
Vicks vapor rub in both nostrals or vicks in a dehumidifier or just boil water in a pan and when it steams breathe it in. That should help. k

well what i do is \take a hot shower and enjoy the time i have in there to breathe, i too am having a hard time breathing, MOUTH BREATHING SUCKS!! BESIDES NASAL SPRAY, AND vicks UNDER YOUR NOSE ALL DAY, THATS ABOUT IT
