What is the best way to get rid of the hick ups?!?!

Question: Usually when you breathe in your lungs expand and push down your diaphragm (thin sheet of muscle running horizontally across you body separating your stomach from your lungs). When you breathe out your lungs deflate and the diaphragm pulls upwards. Hiccoughs are when the diaphragm goes into spasm and jumps up and down, causing you to breathe in and out quickly and uncontrollably (sound familiar, lol?) the trick is to stop the spasm by tensing the sheet of muscle, like stretching a calf muscle to stop a cramp. Take a really deep breath to fill your lungs and push the diaphragm down. Hold it for as long as you possibly can and when you do let it out do it really slowly. this stretches out the diaphragm and allows it to recover from the spasm. When you start breathing normally again you shouldn't have any more hiccoughs. Always works. Really deep breath though!

i always hold my breath and swallow 3 times. it's harder than it sounds because half the time you end up having to start over because you hiccup in the middle of your swallowing. it has always worked for me thought. I swear, just hold your breath and swallow 3 times while you are holding your breath!

drink a glass of water, if that doesnt help, try holding your breath let it out slowly

Have somebody stand behind you and cover your ears with their hands for a while.

HOld your breath for like 40 seconds OR get scared like something on youtube that would make you jump .. OR concentrate VERY hard on something .. or eat penut butter .

Hold your breathe until you pass out, then when you wake up they should be gone.

My two favorite ways of getting rid of my hick ups are:

1) hold my breath for as long as I can
2) drink from a cup upsidedown
3) have someone scare me when I least expect it

Also, whenever I think I am going to hick up, I never do.

Hope I helped

put your full concentration into when the next hiccup will come, if you're thinking really hard about it then it never happens... sounds weird but it actually works!!

random-but my boyfriends uncle once got the hiccups for 2 weeks.

swallow a packet of sugar. try to let it hit the back of your throat.

works like a charm... and it tastes good.
