Why Exactly Are People With Terminal Illnesses And Mental Retardation Allowed To!
Question: For people born with severe mental retardation and other long terminal illnesses; strictly speaking why do we keep them alive.
We know they will never get better and they cannot contribute anything to society so why waste billions of dollars for their long term health care when the money can ge used on those who are still able to live full lives.
I'm sorry to say it but that's how I feel and if god forbid I lose my physical abilities or become brain damaged I wish people would take my life away.

I could make the argument that most of the people on Earth today are doing NOTHING to contribute to a better, healthier, happier or even more secure society. We sit on our asses in front of our computer screens all day and get paid to shuffle paperwork in offices 40 hours a week and go home to the wife and kids and think we're "doing something" with our college-educated, taxpaying little selves while we do nothing to improve the community, the city, the state, the nation or the world except maybe plant some flowers in the town park.
Yeah, RIGHT. Why don't we just go kill all the useless people too?
The argument that they're "wasting money" has merit, and sure, we could kill them, but see the other side of the coin too.... we aren't that much more useful than they are. We can just argue about it more easily.

Mental Illness:Well it's a free country, in some other countries kids are killed for it. That and they do contribute the person who made the angry squeeze thing was mentally ill
Terminal: These people can still do stuff, they're not dead yet, and sometimes they fight it, and few have actually won!!!

Or another condition that some finds to be objectional, such as obesity, blindness, deafness, excessively short or tall, addiction to any controlled substance, habitual criminal (2 or more traffic violations), blond hair, blue eyes, dark skin color. or any one of a few hundred conditions.
