Getting a facial cyst surgically removed?!

Question: I'm wondering if I'm going to be put to sleep for this?
Because my friend told me that his dad a facial cyst surgically removed but he wasn't put to sleep, they just sprayed something on his face and slit open the part where the cyst was and pulled it out.
Is that how they remove it? Because I thought that when you get something "surgically removed" you have to be put under anesthia? (I don't know if I spelled that right)
Does anyone know how it's going to be done?
Because I really don't want to be awake for this, I don't wanna feel anything.

I had one removed. They numb the area up so you won't feel anything. Also, only the area they are working on will be exposed, the rest of your face will be covered so you won't even see it. It takes only a few minutes and trust me, you won't feel a thing. Not to worry.

The "spray" is probably a form of anesthesia, just not the kind you're thinking of. It's most likely a numbing spray, this way you won't feel any pain.
