Taking pills on an empty stomach?!

Question: Whenever I take sleeping pills or painkillers on an empty stomach, they won't become effective until I eat something. I can take them and they will stay in my system for hours without doing anything. Then, once I eat, I will feel the effects within minutes. Has anyone else experienced this or know why it happens? It's really bizarre..

i have taken sleeping pills once before and i asked my doctor why it doesnt take effect until i eat and he told me it was becuase the food abosorbs the medication into your body. so its not bizzare its quite normal for some ppl.

No experience, so I cant hellp you. why do you even take pilld in the first place

Never heard of that. Do you drink a full glass of water when you take your pills? That could be it. Usually people eat when they take pills so they don't get upset stomach.

How many times a week are you taking pain killers and/or sleeping pills? Do you really need sleeping pills? Why are you taking pain killers?
First of all, you need to know that the pills do not stay in your system for hours. Most pills depending on how many you take at a time, only stay in your system for 2 hrs. Most pills peak within the first hour.
You should always take medication with food.
I suggest taking your meds with a meal.
You should not be taking pain killers all the time. They are addicting. Pain killers are a temporary relief. Why do you take them anyway? As for sleeping pills, try something else. Like meditation music, no words, just instrumental, no food or caffeine after 8pm. Go to bed the same time every night and get up at the same time every day. Stay away from colas, alcohol, chocolate, etc... Eat foods that are good for you. You will be able to sleep better if you try.
