I woke in the night feeling really down and depressed?!


Question: Its not my usual style but I felt, lying there unable to sleep, that I really need to change my life.

The trouble is I'm such a coward. Any useful tips?

hey bud, felt that myself. Began thinking about those things I wanted to do and never did, so I started to do them and eureka things get better and perkier, now I sleep better and have an agenda outside work and the family. Don't know how old you are but the male menopause could be at fault here and, before the know alls kick in, there is no set age it can happen, apart from the mid life one when you realise you've lived longer than you're going to.

Setting goals is one idea. Short-term and long-term goals. That might help focus your mind on what you're hoping to achieve and keep you feeling motivated.

Try taking some classes or getting some books on assertiveness to deal with what you describe as being a coward. Sometimes when you don't sleep you can feel down and depressed. If the depression continues for longer than 2 weeks I would speak to your doctor. Change sometimes comes slowly, but you if you take it one step at a time you will get there!

Personally I eat a bar of chocolate. The sugar rush makes me feel better, the act of eating makes your body think it's full and the rustling of the packaging keeps the wife awake. The last one gives me the greatest pleasure.....

Go slow, make a list of all the things you need to change and do one at a time. Decide what it is you want to change, what you want to change to and is it realistically possible. If not try to thing of what is possible which may make you happier.

You need to get out more at weekends,you fear that you could be loosing your touch with the opposite sex .
