Ok... I have a problem. I need to get into the splits in 3 days!! HELP?!


Question: heyy. i'm heather. i am 14 and a half ish. ok, so today is friday. i need to get into the splits by monday, because thatz when Dance Team tryouts are. ahh. anywayz, i am pretty much completely unflexible, but i hope theres someway i can pull this off. please don't say "OMG YOU CANT GET INTO THE SPLITS IN THREE DAYZ!!" just tell me how PLEASE!! :D thnkz =]

You are going to have a hard time getting into splits in 3 days without injuring yourself. You are young enough to still be pretty flexible, so you shouldn't have that far to go. The best way I can tell you to do the stretches is a ballet barre. If you don't access to one, use a wall, fence, or counter top. You need something high enough to be able to put your foot/ankle on while leaning forward to stretch the back of your leg. That's the part you have to loosen up to do side splits. If you are trying to do Russian splits, they are very difficult to do. I took dance from first grade through high school and was never able to do a Russian split. Anyway, back to stretching. While you have you leg on the barre, first you want to have it directly in front of you while you lean forward. Then slide your leg away from you while still leaning in. Don't bounce. That makes little tears in the muscle. You want nice smooth stretches. You can also do floor stretches with your legs spread and leaning forward. A third stretch is using and exercise band over the arch of your foot while laying on your back. Slowly pull your leg toward your chest keeping your knee straight but not locked. Take it as close to your chest as you can and hold for at least 30 seconds. Make sure your muscles are warm before you try any of this. You will probably be sore after all this, so ice your muscles for 15 minutes to take down any inflammation after you are finished. Keep practicing and good luck. Let me know how you make out.

ok well theres not way to "instruct you how to do the spilts"
especially if your really unflexible..
but the most you can do is practise, practise alot! if you practise a couple hours (or more) a day you can become more flexible to do them!

i learned to do the splits in 1 day. You need to just practice. it's going to hurt when you do it but you'll get used to it.

Duh try really hard there really isnt like a manual for that!

Drink lots of water the next 3days... and stretch those legs out every which way you can think of....and Practice!! and if it hurts suck it up and keep trying. It could be possible to do a split in 3 days..but it will be hard. Stay focused and dedicated.
